I have two specific goals for my blog:
1. Very few healthy activities help a person momentarily disconnect from the present world while simultaneously inspiring him/her to novel ideas . While meditation, sleep and sex can afford these opportunities to a certain extent, only film viewing can introduce a person to a new world view.
Hence, my blog goal is to connect with like-minded cinemaphiles who wish to appreciate the luxury movie viewing supplies. To have a community of people who speak the same language would be idyllic to me. I know this is realistic due to the success of podcasts such as Doug Loves Movies, a fun live show recorded at various performance spaces across the U.S. hosted by comedian Doug Benson.
2. With the retirement dream finally a reality, I have great desire to be a comedic writer.
I have written one full length screenplay “Buck Up” about a group of four male friends who feel emasculated by their wives and claustrophobic family responsibilities, yet hog-tied by our politically correct overly sensitive feminist society. By watching old westerns to inspire their inner strength, the men attempt to regain equal status. Hilarity ensues.
I have written two other comedic shorts “Douche Bags Without Day Jobs” and “Doug, You Dig?” and have submitted them to Gordy Hoffman’s Blue Cat Screenplay Contest. The former title advanced based on public voting to the semi-finals of the Blue Cat Title contest.
To stretch myself, I’ve done Stand Up Comedy in both Rochester, New York and my new residence in Srasota FL.
To work for a comedian as a writer would be the ultimate second career for me.
