I’m no Rihanna, but here’s my Movie Season Half-Time Show

This is possibly the slowest movie season in all of history which has to do with post Covid, cancel culture, and just the normal pre-autmumnal desert.

Here’s my picks for the movie season thus far (not in any order):
1. Top Gun Maverick: say what you will about it being Tom Cruise schlock, dog gone it, didn’t it make you feel good? For that alone it’s deserving of at least a sound prize.
2. Elvis: possibly the only bright spot thus far, the film deserves awards for:
Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Cinematography and editing, Best Costume, Best music.
3. Bros: against the masses, I will say this deserves a screenplay for refreshing, balls to the walls (literally and figuratively) this is current America, everyone gets mocked and that’s the way it should be, a la Norman Lear All in the Family
4. Blonde: Love it or hate it Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress Best Supporting actor (Adrian Brody not enough in just this film, but I’m throwing his amazing Pat Riley from Winning season), Best Cinematography.

The best is yet to come folks and I’m particularly excited about The Triangle of Sadness, Tar and The Whale.
